School Supply Shopping Was the Best!!
One of the things I looked forward to when I watched the calendar of August tick by was school supply shopping. I love the smell of the office supply stores. I know, kinda weird…but my first job was in a print shop and I totally loved it.
I enjoyed reading the school supply lists for my kids and watched the excitement of them picking colored notebooks, pencil boxes, backpacks and all the necessary items to get them off on the right path for a successful school year. I actually miss shopping for school supplies for my children and even myself. I loved filling my own classroom with fun and educational items. Yet, the items were just the beginning…
The routine of school days is so important to get established from day one. Think about what needs to be done before you begin the transportation to school. Make a list for yourSELF as well as your children. Make a fun chart for the ones that cannot read yet! Here’s a link to some fun ones. https://www.pricelessparenting.com/chart-for-kids
Wake Up Time
Breakfast
Making Bed
Brushing Teeth
Getting Dressed
Making Lunches
Feeding the Dog
Taking the Garbage Out
Gym Clothes/After School Sports Bag
Discuss the after school routine. Who/How will they get home or to their events. Each child in the family can take on a job (more on chores and kids later), BELONGing to a family is one of the most important gifts we can give our children. When we share with our children what needs to be done before we leave the house, the more they will want to participate. The more you know, the better prepared you are AND the more successful the day will be - for everyone.
