School’s Out For Summer

I always looked forward to my children being home for the summer. I was lucky enough to be able to stay home most days throughout the summer days to truly enjoy them.

Summer became a TIME of few routines or alarm clocks. It was a TIME for creative fun, a vacation planned in there somewhere and play.

I am a believer in being life-long learners. I think it is important to pursue knowledge and master skills throughout our life. I watched my grandmother model this by her love of reading and I watched my grandfather learn new things by using his hands. My mom and dad were also great role models in displaying the love of learning.

Summer, even with less schedules can still be a TIME for learning. Being a member of a family brings lots to learn.

We can teach how to get along with each other, how to draw and color in the lines, how to plant flowers, how to plan a trip, how to separate the whites from the colors…

It is all about learning.

I continue to have intentional curiosity. I want to know more about many things - and there are some things I really don’t want to know anything about. All a part of learning.

“Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death.”

I have instilled the love of learning in my children and delight in watching them continue to seek information and discover many aspects of living. AND teach that same love to their children.

School may be out for a couple of months. The learning still goes on - with intentionality.
