SIMPLIFY

Recently the word SIMPLIFY has been said to me over and over in different areas of my life. I decided to take stock of what Living Simply really means.

According to Merriam-Webster:

Simplify is a verb - a to do word/action - Simplify means to make simple or simpler; to reduce to basic essentials; to diminish in scope or complexity - to streamline and to make more intelligible - to clarify.

In thinking about my life, I feel I truly have lived and still live a pretty simple life. The older I get the more simple I have become. Downsizing our home and “things”...cleaning a small home is much easier than a large one. Having less nicknacks to move when I dust has become a nice way to share our treasures with our children. I now wonder if I have complicated their lives with stuff 🙂

Less is best, in most cases, in my humble opinion.

When my children were young, I remember feeling overwhelmed with toys! So much to pick up and organize and clean. I, at times, would box up half of what they had and put it in the garage to bring out later and it was like Christmas all over again. They loved playing with toys they had not seen in a long time but truly did not miss them when they were gone.

Giving to children for their birthdays and holidays is important, and makes everyone enjoy TIME together. There are memories made in giving and receiving. As I have listened to the word SIMPLIFY over the past few months, perhaps experiences are just as valuable and fun. I am all about MEMORIES. Maybe there are things the children need rather than want. Maybe there are things the family needs that will benefit the children more than new toys.

I am taking time to pause and get creative. I want to assist my children and grandchildren in SIMPLIFYING their life too.
