Dryer Sheets Say It All
I drove away from visiting my twins in college and headed 2,000 plus miles across the country to live in a small, quaint little home. I had downsized. As I began to get settled in, I made my list and headed to the grocery store to stock up on meals and supplies for two instead of four.
After raising five of my own it would be the first time in many years there would only be two people in the house with needs.
Dryer sheets were on the list. Normally I would look for the large money savings bulk box – yet now this idea seemed silly. Why would I need to buy so many sheets. How many loads of wash would I be doing now? What if I didn’t like the way they smelled…I could be stuck with them for a long time. I chose the smaller box of 120 sheets and thought to myself, "these should last me a couple of months".
Thanksgiving and Christmas came and went with our children coming in and out for visits. I watched my box of dryer sheets dwindle and yesterday – replaced the box with 80 sheets.
It is nice to be reminded that a box of dryer sheets, such a simple little item had the power to show me the way our lives change.
PS: I no longer use dryer sheets or liquid laundry soap. Found the best laundry sheets :)
