The TIME has come!

The TIME has come!

I wrote this in 2016 on my oldest son's birthday. It is worth sharing...

"After almost 32 years, my home is Feeling smaller. All five of my children are on their own path and on with their own lives.
Rarely do I do laundry for them anymore, yet this week, I spent the moments of washing, drying and folding laundry in a total sense of Feeling. I took much longer than normal as I cherished each moment of noticing and appreciating the size of my children’s t-shirts, socks, and shorts. I have laundered so many clothes…from cute little boy and girl baby clothes, to twin preemie outfits, toddler outfits, athletic uniforms, mud soaked soccer cleats, towels, sheets, sleeping bags, along with gum, lip balm and money!
My last two children are headed to dorm life and leaving home. As I was folding and stacking their clothes, knowing it is close to the last TIME they will need me to do such a menial chore for them, I breathed in a breath of satisfaction and thankfulness. I am so excited to see my last two children “fly from the nest” and watch them on their new adventures. They are ready, they have Learned how to take care of their SELF. I am thankful to have realized when they were young to relish and cherish, to pay attention to the menial.
They will be back, to visit. They will still want to share their ideas and struggles, they will still bring laundry home…I am looking forward to doing laundry for them - and for their children! More wonderful memories…"

And now, when I find a sock left behind from a not long enough visit, I truly smile and spend a moment of gratitude for my family and precious memories!
